Joomla is a content management system. A number of people might have used this type of CMS. Though I do not advise Joomla for those who want to make money and desire to get top ranking for their keywords. You can put it under PHPNuke category, but don’t trust Joomla sites. Because the whole system runs off of Index.php which is not good for your search engine optimization.

I have several clients that I had build .NET extensions to and the experience I had was terrible and tiresome. In fact if you create a site based on .NET technology, you get way better solution than the other one.

If you want to create a forum, or newsroom or membership area, then Joomla can be useful, because you create the whole system easy. Creating the navigation structure is effortless. In one condition that you understand and know how it works and have some knowledge of HTML.
You can put articles to expire after a time, activate dates, breadcrumbs, author name and so on. However there are some major seo problems with Joomla.

For those who do not have knowledge of web design and HTML, joomla has a big learning curve. The Javascript and CSS can get bulky. The load time is way too slow which does not match with Google’s standards today. As we all know Google emphasizes on speed and Joomla is not your choice if you want to get ranking. Joomla cost you money. The programming and development is clumsy and if you want to change you layout, you are in trouble. If you want to implement some plug ins you have to pay money.

The complexity of Joomla is its strong point and weakness. I wrote an article earlier about Joomla and its drawbacks which was published worldwide. I received many responses from people who have been using Joomla and admitted that the facts I pointed out were so true. As some of you may know Joomla was presented a few years ago back in 2005 and the developers of Joomla were able to make some decent money.

Although they are aware of the drawbacks of Joomla and present some plugins to correct the dysfunctionalities, but the problem are still there. Many who own joomla website were outranked because of the SEO problems. I know of the fact that some who received nice rage rank, with the changes that Google has done lately, these websites dropped their ranking. Some of those SEO-ers who have been working on Joomla websites know that ranking for a Joomla site may not be as easy as any other sites. In fact getting top ranking for these types of CMS sites is not easy.

I recommend the Joomla designers find way to enrich and optimize Joomla so that people who have built a website on Joomla can enjoy ranking as well.
For the time being WordPress sites can be the best choice, don’t you think so?

Overview:

Joomla is basically the new, competing version of Mambo. Several months ago the open source software development group split, with several of the original developers leaving Mambo to join the Joomla development system. As of now, Joomla and Mambo are very similar; in fact, almost identical. Most modules and components and templates that work with Mambo work almost perfectly with Joomla.
Joomla works well for medium to larger websites and is one of the best content management systems out there. It competes against the best, thus it is one of the best.

Advantages:

If you have used Mambo in the past, an advantage of using Joomla now is that you will basically not have to learn anything. Because Mambo and Joomla are so similar, little learning is needed in the translation. For non-Mambo users, Joomla has the same advantages that Mambo has; modules, components, and user accounts, as well as many other things. With these features you can set up allowances and restrictions to your users; ultimately, this gives you a very strict amount of control over your website. If you set it up this way, everything works as you’d like, and nothing will happen or be published that you don’t approve.

Disadvantages:

One possible disadvantage of Joomla is that it will be so different than Mambo. In a few years, Mambo and Joomla will continue to evolve, and one or the other will turn out to be the dominate one. However, we cannot know which one that will be at this time, so you must weigh both the risk and the advantages. Another disadvantage of Joomla is that it can be hard to get the hang of if you are new to the Joomla-Mambo software. In addition to this, Joomla, like Mambo, can be difficult to learn how to work when you are just starting. It’s hard to get it to work right in the beginning, disable certain features, and to make a template you like.

Best Uses:

Like Mambo, Joomla is bested use with moderate to larger websites. It does fine for smaller ones, but it can be a hassle to set up. It takes a long time to get the hang of using the software and configuring it to exactly what you want. It can be effective for certain tasks,

Platform:

Joomla is run on web hosting with PHP and a MySQL database.

Templates and Modification:

There are a decent amount of pre-made Joomla templates one can use from a stock website or customize. In addition to this, virtually every Mambo template that is out there will work almost perfectly with Joomla.

Website owners would definitely want to have their sites be included in the top rankings of search engines. As days pass by, the competition in the net is getting more and more and challenging as there are hundreds of search engine optimization or SEO experts who are well-equipped with knowledge with regards to how to make certain sites rank well in leading search engines. In order to optimize one’s site better, TopSEO’s tips should be considered such as making sure that all the pages in the website have unique and enticing titles as well as informative Meta tag. This is just a simple thing to do yet it can give way to enormous positive results. Using consistent keywords can provide focused links in one’s web page. One should make sure that the link text contains the primary keywords in the page whenever linking from one page to another.

Another TopSEO’s tips when optimizing one’s site is to go for links that have high quality. Concentrating on getting links from those sites that have good standing in search engines can produce a more positive result. Avoid using link farms as well as link partnering schemes as search engines do not like links with low value. Creating and publishing well written scripts about what the company or website is offering and submitting those articles to article submission sites can also help in achieving a higher ranking in search engines. Including the author’s short details can guarantee readers that the write up is accurate and informative.

I’m using Joomla for the main website and WordPress for blogging. Both software were installed in the same server using two MySQL accounts. Joomla provide the best content management system I’ve seen in open-source software. As for now, I don’t think I should try other software to compare with its content management system. Somehow, one thing I don’t like about using Joomla is the SEO. Comparing to the WordPress blog, I am really not satisfied with my traffic to the main website (Joomla page) because I have not received any traffic from search engines to the Joomla site eventhough they are indexed but every articles in this WordPress blog got most of their readers from the search engines moments after they are published. I am still figuring if there are problems in my setting that might have causes this or I might need additional plug-ins or modules to overcome the problem.

Joomla was chosen for the main website because the content management system allow me to organize the contents with sections, categories, and manage their placement in the website. Modules are used in Joomla that are quite similar to widgets in WordPress. These modules can be placed anywhere on the website at predefined places such as right column, header, footer, or user defined locations. The standard mod_banner module allow banners or advertisements to be managed easily with option to limit the number of banners to appear. This allow you to have as many advertisement in the website but limit only some of them to appear at one time either randomly or by keywords related to articles. The mod_section module allow menus to be made automatically based on how many sections you are using in the websites. Front Page Manager in Joomla let users to specify whether an article is to be shown on the front page or only in their selected categories giving dynamic and organized feature to the website. Joomla main template use simple php and css coding allowing template modification to be made just on one file. This is quite similar to Blogger xml template as everything are in one single file.

Even though most of the standard feature are great, more add-ons or plugins are required to unleash the true potential a Joomla website. I’ve just installed a patch last night for my Joomla 1.5.9 version containing SEO fixes and still waiting to see what the patch can do for my website. There are a lot of add-ons for Joomla in the community websites but searching for the best and most helpful is quite a messy job.

WordPress is the ultimate blogging software ever. Even without any plugins, the software has already been optimised for search engines. Adding additional plugins will only boost the standard capability of the software. With so many webmasters creating their own plugins for WordPress, users should just browse the plugins database if they have any problems with their standard WordPress features. In WordPress, widgets can be placed anywhere but limited to areas predefined in the template. Some template only allow widgets on the sidebar while some allow widgets to be placed in the bottom section of the page. Comparing to Joomla template, WordPress uses many different files for each headers, post pages, sidebars, and footers. These files need to be modified seperately to modify blog appearance. The php coding used to links these files together could somehow confuse users especially to those whose not really good with php.

There are not much to say about WordPress since you can simply find the solution for any problem by browsing the plugins database. WordPress have the best SEO tools that will help to bring visitors within minutes. The only thing I don’t like is the content placement is really limited to templates or layouts. I don’t know if there is any WordPress template that allow widgets to be added to any part of the page such as header, footer, or sidebar as what you see in Blogger. Joomla have this feature only without the ability to drag and place the widgets (module) anywhere we want to.

Conclusion:

For organized contents and more corporate look, Joomla can be a good choice as you can choose to let an article to appear on the front page, in their categories or only to specified user category. You can also do this to modules and let only registered users to have access to some menu or contents. If you want to have the best blogging experience, use WordPress with a good template. After installing some top rated plugins, all you have to worry is what to write about in your blog. You can see why I used both software if you compare the articles in this blog to those in the main website. I also hope that the advantages of both softwares will help to popularize my website.

Shortly, content is king. I agree with that, with some considering points. Although content is the king, but without good looking site, i will be just ignored. Why ? because people see website how it looks, in stead of contents it has. So, if you build website with good content but without good design, i think visitor will just assume that you are not seriously with your website. Professionally created website include good design, good content, good maintenance, good service. To create professional websites requires professional people behind them.

Unfortunately, not all people in a company or organization can create good web design. For such company or organizations, i suggest you to contact web design service provider company. The company specializes on planning, designing, developing, and also giving maintenance service for website development. You must pay with reasonable price according to complexity of website you order.

In recent days, outsourcing is the best way to reduce cost and to get best result. For companies which core business is not website design, usually they do not have enough man power in website development. If this company develops website internally, the result tends to be low quality but with much effort. In order to get high quality and less effort, i recommend them to call web design company. I am sure you will get the best result with less effort.

Have you ever heard or read that somebody can earn million dollars from internet ? Do you believe it ? Well, i believe it, and I am on that way right now, becoming internet businessman. Let me share my experiences in online earning from internet. What i write is almost my true experiences. I change some data to protect my privacy.

Starting from zero, i read book about getting $1000 a month. I did what the book said. Firstly, i bought internet domain. This domain had PR3. I developed this domain using good layout, nice posts and pictures so it looks professional.

I began to do my marketing actions to get buyers. Nobody was interested with my site, so there was no income for three months. Wondering why there were not buyers, i read online guide of internet marketing, and then SEO tools gave me one of methods to increase my site value.

I installed SEOQuake, Rank Checker and SEO for Firefox in my site. About 2 weeks later, there was improvement in my site parameter, such as alexa rank and backlinks. If you are in the same field as me, you can try those SEO tools.

Searching for ways to improve traffic to one’s website is a constant priority for site owners. Increasing traffic or hits is a sure sign of a websites success. The success of a company’s website corresponds to an increase in sales and profit. The key importance is to fully utilize the internet for advertising and marketing without breaking the bank or at least at the most minimal cost. Products and services being offered in a company’s website can be introduced and possibly purchased by means of marketing and advertising. If this is done properly, website success will be achieved.

Search engine optimization is a way for companies to maximize website traffic. Websites can only be effective if it is visited by potential clients. Selling a product or service on a company website is challenging as it is but getting the target market or consumers to visit the site is also equally tasking. So by increasing website traffic a company will also increase its possibilities to eventually make a sale or gain a customer. To explain this in simpler terms, more visits or hits equal more chances to present and more chances to sell. The more traffic the more profit.

Being considered by search engines as an authority in specific key word searches will land a website’s link high on its result list. If a company’s website high on the list or at least on the front page it is most likely to be visited and have the opportunity to make a profit, websites that have low ranks on the list have very slim chances of being visited and it follows that would be less profitable. In order to achieve this, a company’s website has to have a significant number of back links that are of relevance to the topic or keywords used in a particular search.

A way or an option to increase back links is by using automatic directory submitter software. This software is able to generate back links for a website thus increasing its page rating. The software is capable of submitting articles or blogs as back links to hundreds and thousands of directories for the search engine’s perusal. There are different criteria in the search engines assessment of a websites rank but increasing the number of back links of a site is a significant part of the decision making process. This software is very useful and companies who would like to boost the success of its website should look into using it.

In the SEO community there is a lot of focus on PageRank as an indicator of a domain’s value. Although it is probably one of the most important factors in a domain’s value in the eyes of Google, there are a few points that should be understood. The higher the PageRank, the more likely Google is to trust it. This holds true for both external and internal hyperlinks. Google PageRank has 11 values, between 1 and 10. Google gives each page on the internet a weight and when one page links to another it passes some weight onto the page it is linking to.

First of all, for anyone who doesn’t know what PageRank is – it is a value used by Google to determine how important a domain is based on analysis of link on the internet. Web pages that don’t have any PageRank are often referred to as having N/A PageRank. Also, pages that have a lot of low PageRank and PageRank N/A links pointing to them can have their PageRank lowered as a result.

A website can have a high PageRank with relatively few links pointing to it if those links are of a high PageRank.PageRank is generally not assigned to a web page higher than the pages that link to it. Probably the most important factor in the distribution of PageRank to a web page is the PageRank of the web pages linking to it. So, if a page has 4 PageRank 4 and 3 PageRank 3 links pointing at it, it will probably be assigned a PageRank of 4. The sheer quantity of links does not help to increase PageRank. The higher the PageRank of pages linking to a given page, the higher its PageRank is likely to be. Some people suggest that the text content of the page affects PageRank assignment, but this doesn’t seem to be the case. There is no substantiated evidence that text affects PageRank other than pages that have been spammed often have their PageRank reduced. When it come to sub-pages, time is a factor in PageRank assignment. When new sites first get assigned PageRank their sub-pages often remain without any PageRank. In general, sub-pages are a little slow to get assigned PageRank. Google is generally less trusting of sub-pages unless they belong to a trusted domain. In particular websites with a lot of sub-pages and even more so sites that link to a lot of internal pages (like directories) can really struggle to pass their PageRank to internal pages. The structure of the site has a major role to play in the distribution of PageRank. Google uses what is known as block level analysis to pick apart web pages. They use their vast knowledge of the structure of the web to decide what links on a page are probably the most trustworthy and the pages these links point to are more likely to be assigned PageRank. Google can and do manipulate websites’ PageRank. This is generally as a penalty for sites that have used unhonest methods. This can often cause all the site’s sub-pages to loose their PageRank. It has also been claimed that in the past Google has made mistakes in PageRank distribution. Finally, the PageRank of a web page may change even when there has been no change in the links pointing to that page. This is either due to changes in the structure of links between all websites or modifications made by Google.
